Qatar’s air traffic control system has just received a significant upgrade, enhancing both situational awareness and operational efficiency. The Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) has partnered with Bayanat Engineering Qatar to implement a state-of-the-art integrated display system powered by Frequentis. This next-generation platform unifies critical data points, consolidating weather, aerodrome, runway, and support system information into a single screen.
With this new system, air traffic controllers in Qatar can enjoy a unified operational view that simplifies workflows and allows for faster decision-making, crucial for the growing demands of the country’s airspace. By integrating all necessary data into one display, controllers are empowered with clearer insights, which will improve safety and efficiency at Qatar’s airports.
This update is a key part of Qatar’s vision for a fully connected, future-proof air traffic management ecosystem, advancing toward a OneATM structure. The display system will be deployed across 78 positions at key locations, including the area control centre, approach centres, and the Hamad and Doha International Airport ATC towers. Additionally, Frequentis’ smartTOOLS will provide redundancy, ensuring continuous and reliable operations.
The project marks another milestone in the long-standing partnership between Bayanat Engineering Qatar and Frequentis, which spans over 20 years. The new system is expected to be a cornerstone of Qatar’s strategy to maintain safe, efficient, and modern air traffic control operations as the aviation sector continues to expand.
