Trade between Egypt and Qatar has experienced a remarkable surge, with the total trade value reaching $143 million in the first ten months of 2025. This represents a significant 80% increase from $80 million in 2023, signaling stronger economic cooperation between the two nations.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations and Investment Opportunities
Hassan El-Khatib, Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, highlighted that Egypt-Qatar relations are built on trust and mutual cooperation. At the Egypt-Qatar Business Forum, El-Khatib emphasized the key role Qatari investments play in Egypt’s economy, with approximately $3.2 billion invested across more than 266 companies spanning sectors like finance, tourism, and industry.
The forum showcased opportunities for joint industrial projects, including sectors such as automotive components, energy, renewable energy, textiles, and tourism. By leveraging Qatar’s capital and expertise with Egypt’s competitive advantages and production capacity, the forum aimed to unlock further opportunities for mutual growth.
Strategic Partnerships Driving Economic Growth
El-Khatib also noted recent high-level engagements, including Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s meeting with Qatar’s Amir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, which helped lay the groundwork for new Qatari investments in Egypt. This includes major projects like the development of the Al-Alamein area on the North Coast, set to boost Egypt’s tourism and urban development sectors.
The Egypt-Qatar collaboration is also enhanced by a specialized committee that helps streamline procedures for Qatari companies, addressing challenges and ensuring smoother cooperation between the two nations.
Investment-Friendly Environment in Egypt
Egypt continues to position itself as an attractive investment destination, citing its strategic location, a skilled workforce, and a stable business environment. Over the past decade, Egypt has made significant infrastructure improvements, including new smart cities, ports, and logistics centers, paving the way for future investments.
The government is also focused on reforms to enhance investor confidence, streamline processes, and improve transparency, with the recent launch of an investment licensing platform designed to simplify procedures and reduce costs.
The Egypt-Qatar trade growth highlights the strengthening economic ties between the two nations. As new investment opportunities emerge, Egypt’s strategic reforms and infrastructure developments position the country as a key player in the regional and global markets.
