Doha, Qatar – Qatar Intercontinental Cup final phase will be staged in the Gulf nation this December, marking the second consecutive year the country has hosted the prestigious FIFA competition.
FIFA confirmed on Sunday that three matches will be played in Doha, culminating in the final on December 17. The Middle Eastern host also staged last year’s concluding rounds, when Real Madrid lifted the trophy in the inaugural edition.
This year’s edition has already shaped up with several contenders. Paris Saint-Germain, winners of the UEFA Champions League, have qualified directly for the final. They will face the winner of a playoff scheduled a week earlier between CONCACAF Champions Cup winners Cruz Azul and the yet-to-be-determined Copa Libertadores champion.
Egypt’s Pyramids FC have secured a semi-final spot after defeating Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli last week. The Cairo club will meet the Cruz Azul–Libertadores winner in a de facto semi-final, with the victor advancing to face PSG.
The Intercontinental Cup, introduced in 2024, brings together club champions from FIFA’s six confederations. Its rapid rise as a global showcase has strengthened Qatar’s role as a repeat host for elite international football, reinforcing its status as a sporting hub after the 2022 World Cup.
For fans and investors alike, the Qatar Intercontinental Cup offers another high-profile event on the global football calendar, with Doha again at the center of world attention.
